1. Company Overview: Boston Insights
At Boston Insights, we believe every patient in a clinical trial deserves timely access to life-changing investigational drugs. Behind every vial reaching a trial site lies a complex, data-siloed supply chain. We are building the world’s first Clinical Supply Chain Command Center-a data-powered SaaS platform that unifies operational intelligence, analytics, and AI to ensure therapies reach patients without interruption.
We are a high-velocity, mission-driven organization where engineering excellence meets healthcare innovation.
2. The Role: Associate Full-Stack Platform Engineer
We are seeking a high-potential, early-career engineer focused on automation and AI-augmented development. This role is designed for a technical professional who prioritizes efficiency through programmatic solutions and scalable architecture rather than manual configuration.
In this position, you will initially focus on the Cloud Platform and DevOps lifecycle. Under the structured mentorship of our engineering leadership, you will implement and maintain our core cloud foundation. While the role begins with guided supervision, the expectation is a rapid progression toward full end-to-end ownership of these systems. This role offers an accelerated path to gaining hands-on experience with enterprise-grade architectural components, including Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
3. Core Responsibilities & Initial Focus
As a primary contributor to our infrastructure and automation roadmap, you will utilize AI-assisted engineering tools to support the following domains:
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Assist in the deployment and optimization of Terraform and Bicep modules to ensure all environments are idempotent, repeatable, and globally scalable.
CI/CD Pipeline Management: Contribute to the development and maintenance of robust YAML-based pipelines within Azure DevOps, ensuring consistent and secure code-to-cloud delivery.
Environment Orchestration: Utilize migration utilities and scripts to ensure database schemas and application environments remain synchronized with software versioning cycles.
Data Validation Readiness: Develop automated scripts to populate testing environments with sophisticated synthetic datasets, enabling rigorous platform verification while upholding strict data privacy standards.
4. Career Evolution: Transition to Full-Stack
This is a long-term professional placement intended for an engineer who aspires to build product features as well as infrastructure. Upon demonstrating proficiency in the platform engineering domain, you will expand your scope into Full-Stack Software Engineering:
Application Development: Contribute to backend and frontend feature sets using modern frameworks such as Node.js, .NET, or React.
AI-Augmented Workflows: Leverage Large Language Models (LLMs) and automated agents to accelerate feature delivery, unit testing, and comprehensive technical documentation.
System Observability: Develop synthetic transaction monitors and observability dashboards to ensure continuous platform health and a seamless user experience.
5. Candidate Requirements
Technical Qualifications
Cloud Fundamentals: Foundational knowledge of Azure (or AWS/GCP equivalents) with a commitment to attaining Azure expert-level proficiency.
Scripting Proficiency: Practical experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash for task automation and system utility development.
AI Tooling Aptitude: Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LLMs) to accelerate learning and troubleshoot complex system logic.
Version Control: Competency in Git-based workflows, including branching strategies, pull request management, and code review participation.
Professional Mindset
Experience: 1–2 years of relevant technical experience or a significant portfolio demonstrating the ability to deploy functional, containerized applications.
Technical Documentation: A commitment to maintaining standardized documentation that ensures system transparency, reproducibility, and knowledge transfer.
Analytical Growth: A strong aptitude for executing structured technical roadmaps with precision and a focus on continuous process improvement.
6. Professional Value Proposition
Accelerated Professional Development: Significant exposure to modern enterprise architecture, distributed systems, and high-velocity engineering practices.
Structured Career Progression: A defined path transitioning from Platform/DevOps Engineering to a comprehensive Full-Stack Developer role within a growing team.
Mission-Driven Impact: The opportunity to contribute to transformative technology that significantly improves global healthcare and patient outcomes.
